You'd think making it through Christmas would have been enough for us, but no. After a few days off, we got back to work, prepping for inventory and trying desperately to learn a new computer system. (That's right: Did I mention we had to get a new computer the week after Christmas? And that we found out some of our orders haven't been going through? Ah, the joys of technology, even in a world filled with old-fashioned books and paper.)
The last week has been a bit of a blur as we've cleaned out the store of old titles and prepped the shelves for new ones. We're processing a lot of inventory returns -- did you know we get credit when old books are shipped back to the publisher? -- but we're also offering 50% off on lots of titles that we've never had on sale before. Consider this our post-inventory sale, a chance for you to stock up on some really great hardbacks and paperbacks before they disappear from our shelves.
We also spent last weekend rearranging our middle reader section to make it more accessible for your elementary and middle school readers; we're restocking our easy level readers and lots of new (and classic) series, and we've created a new nonfiction section with books about everything from presidents to planets. Bear with us as we make the new arrangement more cozy and fill it with books we think you're kids will love. I'm so excited to see it all take shape.
I love this time of year, because it means fresh starts and new beginnings, and goodness knows, we could all use some of those. The store looks a little empty, but that's honestly fantastic news. It means we had a truly wonderful, busy holiday season, and now there's room for us to take a collective deep breath and fill the shop with fun, new things. Come in and see what we've been up to, plus browse our sale. We'd love to see you this weekend!
Shelf Talk + Signing w/ SJ Sindu, Saturday, 1/14, 5-7 p.m.: We're proud to host so many Florida State creatives in our shop! This Saturday, author and FSU Ph.D. candidate SJ Sindu is celebrating the launch of her chapbook, I Once Met You, But You Were Dead. You can read about Sindu on our shop blog this week; check it out, then come hear about her work in person.
