I have very exciting news this morning - The Bookshelf is a quarterfinalist in the 6th annual Indie Awards due to our customers' support and voting! This means that we are one step closer to becoming a semifinalist - and possibly winning - the Indie Awards, which is in large part thanks to your participation. For that, The Bookshelf, Annie and the staff, are extremely grateful. The Bookshelf has had a busy holiday season thus far, hosting many events, author signings, and participating in community gatherings, that hopefully you have attended! Our staff members here in the shop have individually played their own roles in each recent event: the Covey Film Festival, Sidewalk Saturday, Tales from LPH, Soup Night, the list goes on. In the spirit of Thanksgiving this Thursday, I've asked Annie what she is most thankful for as a result of working at the shop and being a member of the Thomasville community. Read her answer below.
Annie: After over three years working and living in Thomasville, I'm grateful for the quirky community The Bookshelf has given me. Every day, I interact with the most interesting, well-read people in and around Thomasville. They're funny and smart, and I've laughed and cried listening to their stories. Entrepreneurship can be lonely, but every day, I have at least one interaction that reminds me why I do what I do. From the littlest of preschoolers, to the reluctant middle grade reader, to the grown-up giving me wisdom... They're each a gift, and I'm so grateful.
So, what are you thankful for this year, readers? Personally, I am grateful for each individual reader that takes the time to indulge in our weekly posts (that's you!). In light of the controversial political season we've had this year, maybe it would do some good to reflect on everything we have and are grateful for this holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving from The Bookshelf to you!
