We host all kinds of events and happenings at the shop every month: story times, book clubs, author signings, workshops, and more! Find descriptions of each of our events and popular event series below, then see a full listing of our upcoming events on our events calendar. You can find tickets for our upcoming ticketed events here.
Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.
Join us every Saturday morning for story time with local kiddos! We gather in our children's section for 15 to 20 minutes to read a staff-favorite picture book together, then work on a themed craft and talk about what we've read. Some weeks, we sing songs and play games! We love gathering with the children and helping them learn to love reading as much as we do! Saturday story times are led by our shop owner, Annie, or local or visiting authors.
Shelf TalkS & Signings
It's our goal to make our bookstore a gathering place for readers and writers across the South. Throughout the year, we host a variety of author signings and events. Follow us on Facebook or see below for a complete listing of our upcoming author visits.
We love supporting local authors. Signings are a great way for our customers to meet tiger favorite authors and snag some one-on-one conversations with them.
ENTERTAIN YOUR INNER NERD
The Entertain Your Inner Nerd Series at The Bookshelf is just like going back to school -- but only for an evening! It is designed to educate nerds of all kinds in a fun and intimate environment with experts on poetry, bullet journaling, chess and everything in between coming to teach their craft.
Birthdays are a wonderful time of celebration, and The Bookshelf would love to host your party! For $150, your little one can have their birthday party at their favorite downtown shop. Visit our Top Shelf page for more information on birthday party rentals.
One Book Thomas County
Annually each FALL
Every year, The Bookshelf partners with Thomas County Public Library to celebrate literacy with One Book Thomas County. Our entire community reads one book together, and we spend a week celebrating the chosen book and its themes. This past autumn, we honored We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter.
